Little Dragon - NightLight (2011)
Genres: Electronic, Synth-Pop

"NightLight" is the first single from Little Dragon's third album Ritual Union. Little Dragon has become a force to be reckoned with in just a matter of a few years. The Swedes hit the scene back in 2007 with the perfect combination of Electronic sounds and Soulful vocals, and they haven't looked back since. Just when everyone thought the sound featured on their debut album would shape who they were, they switched their sound on their second album. Little Dragon traded in their soulfully mellow tones for a synthesized 80's sound on their second album Machine Dreams. Now, with their third album releasing right around the corner (at the end of July), many people say they've stuck with their 80's sound. However, I'm not quite sure if Ritual Union will be similar to Machine Dreams; some tracks make me believe it will, and others leave me feeling differently. I guess we'll have to wait and see when Ritual Union releases!

Little Dragon left all of their fans in a frenzy when they pushed the release date of Ritual Union from mid July to July 26th. Luckily, they will be releasing goodies to accommodate the waiting period. Here's what Prefixmag had to say:

"Little Dragon’s third album, Ritual Union, might have been pushed back one week to late July, but the Swedes are making up for it by dropping an additional project earlier in the month. It’s a remix EP filled with reworked versions of choice cuts from Ritual Union. And so far, we know that acts like Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Tensnake are handling the remixes. It’s not clear yet which tracks they will be rearranging, but I expect we will hear new versions of lead single “Nightlight” and “Little Man.”

Now that I think of it, I remember hearing new material from Little Dragon's upcoming album during their last show I attended. The songs either blended in perfectly with every other song they performed, or I was completely out of the mix. I honestly believe I was out of it. All I remember is looking at Yukimi for most of the show with such a blank expression upon my face, and then the next thing I knew, I was dancing with her. All in all, I know their album will be adored by many, including myself.

"NightLight" is recommended to everyone that enjoys Little Dragon, or Synth-Pop/Electronic/Soul music. The single can be purchased through iTunes (here), so if you're interested in purchasing the track for yourself, you now know where to go. Also, keep your ears and eyes open for the release of Ritual Union! I've also included the track "NightLight" below. Enjoy!

I honestly think your influence and liking of Little Dragon made me go deeper. I wasn't a fan of the synth-pop like beats, but I really do think Yukimi's voice helps overlook what I didn't like. Glad that you got to share those moments with her at the concert. It feels really good to connect with artists you love.
