For Ear Sake is not a music blog that illegally shares albums, but an outlet geared toward supporting artists. You will get a full sense of what moves me musically through the albums reviewed, videos, and other miscellaneous music topics. For Ear Sake was created to shine a light on different genres, and educate individuals on the importance of supporting the artists we listen to. With an open mind and heart for music, not only will this be an adventure, but the perfect source for inspiration, and a journey for you and I respectively. "And through the production of music, we inspire beauty; a gift crafted perfectly with the lessons of life and the fantasy of our futures."

S.N.S. - Yesterday's Machine (2011)
Genres: Downtempo, Experimental, Nu-Soul

“Saturn Never Sleeps was originally created by music producer King Britt and artist Rucyl for two performances specifically dedicated to the music and sound of Sun-Ra. Inspired by the works of classic electronic innovators like Herbie Hancock, Raymond Scott and Delia Derbyshire, the experiment began in July of 2009.” - Sature Never Sleeps

The Philadelphian veteran King Britt and the innovative mastermind Rucyl forms a dynamic duo. With decades of musical skill under their belts, and strong inspirations behind them, Saturn Never Sleeps is a force to be reckoned with. Ever since their formation, the duo has been busy refining their sound and touring the globe. Now, two years after their journey began, their debut album Yesterday's Machine is finally here.

“Their debut album, Yesterday’s Machine, combines an experimental create-in-the-moment vibe with inspirational lyrics and vocal sonics that range from Sade tones to Flora Purim’s ethereal layers. The result is well-crafted, intelligent, genre-pushing, electronic soul rooted in the duo’s collective years of experience and musical expanse.” - Saturn Never Sleeps

The video for the track "Grace" from the album Yesterday's Machine, created by Rux (Rui Pereira).

Yesterday's Machine is a solid debut album; it contains 12 elated tracks with a time span of 43 minutes. The album opens up with the track "Lotus," where Rucyl elegantly sails upon lullaby-like production. The track "Lotus" sets the tone of the remaining 11 tracks, seeing that the production remains relatively mellow and Rucyl's vocals remain graceful throughout the span of the album.

Yesterday's Machine is an all-around good release; and to top it off, it's available as a free download. A nice glass of wine, dimmed lights, a cool breeze, and free sounds by Saturn Never Sleeps is the formula of a perfect Summer night. Since the album is currently free, I recommend that every gives it a chance. The album can be downloaded directly through Saturn Never Sleeps website (click here). Also, if you wish to support the album, you can purchase yourself a copy through iTunes (click here), and vinyl and CD copies will soon be available. Lastly, I've included two sample tracks from the album below. Enjoy!
